Nissan Repair in Pasadena

We service all Nissan models — Altima, Maxima, Sentra, Rogue, Pathfinder, Frontier, Titan, 370Z, and more. Nissan's CVT is the most important thing to stay on top of, and we see them at every stage — some well-maintained, some not.

Nissan Services

What We Do on Nissans

Oil & Filter Changes

Correct oil specification per Nissan guidelines. We check for signs of coolant intrusion that shows up on some VQ-series engines.

Learn More

CVT Service

Nissan CVT fluid is one of the most neglected services. Factory "lifetime fill" is not actually lifetime. We recommend changes every 30-40k miles to extend CVT life.

Brake Service

Pads, rotors, calipers, brake fluid. Frontier and Pathfinder rear drums if applicable.

Smog Check & Repair

STAR Certified for all Nissan models. Altima and Rogue EVAP issues are common — diagnosed and repaired on-site.

Learn More

Engine Diagnostics

OEM Nissan/Infiniti diagnostic software for accurate fault reading and system testing beyond what generic scanners can access.

Timing Chain Service

VQ35 and VQ37 engines have known timing chain stretch issues at higher mileage. Rattling on cold start is the warning sign.

Suspension & Steering

Struts, control arms, tie rods, wheel bearings. Altima rear suspension issues around 80-100k are common.

A/C Service

Recharge, leak test, compressor replacement. Nissan A/C compressors tend to go at around 80-100k in Southern California heat.

30+ Years in Pasadena
We've been working on cars in this neighborhood since 1993. The shop has changed, the tools have changed, but the location and the standards haven't.
OEM Factory Diagnostics
We use the same software systems the dealers use. Generic code readers miss a lot. OEM tools don't.
STAR Certified Smog
One of the relatively few STAR Certified stations in Pasadena. We can test any vehicle, including those directed to STAR stations by the DMV.

FAQ

Nissan Questions

How often should I change Nissan CVT fluid?

Every 30,000-40,000 miles in normal driving. Nissan officially extended some drain intervals, but that guidance tends to result in CVT failures. We've seen enough failed CVTs to recommend more frequent changes.

My Altima CVT shudders or slips. Is it fixable?

Sometimes. If caught early, a fluid change and CVT-specific conditioner can help. If the transmission is already slipping significantly, it usually means internal damage. We diagnose first.

My Nissan has a P0420 code. What does that mean?

Catalytic converter efficiency below threshold. It can be the cat itself, an O2 sensor, or sometimes an exhaust leak. We diagnose to find the actual cause before recommending a cat replacement.

Do you work on Nissan trucks and SUVs?

Yes. Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra, Titan — all of them. 4WD service and transfer case fluid included.

My Nissan makes a rattling sound on cold starts. What is that?

On VQ35 and VQ37 engines, that's often the timing chain tensioner, especially above 80,000 miles. Worth addressing before it becomes a bigger problem.
