What We Do on Chevrolets

Oil & Filter Changes

We use Dexos-approved oil on all GM engines and reset the DIC oil life monitor after service.

Learn More

Brake Service

Pads, rotors, calipers, brake fluid. Silverado and Tahoe have larger assemblies — we stock common sizes.

Learn More

Active Fuel Management (AFM)

AFM/DoD lifter failures on 5.3L engines are a documented GM issue. We can diagnose lifter noise and discuss AFM delete options if appropriate.

Smog Check & Repair

STAR Certified for all Chevrolet models. GM EVAP systems — specifically the fuel cap, purge valve, and vent solenoid — generate a lot of check engine lights in California.

Learn More

GDS2 / MDI Diagnostics

GM's factory diagnostic software for all modules. Accurate diagnosis on engine, transmission, BCM, HVAC, and ADAS systems.

Learn More

Transmission Service

8-speed and 10-speed automatic fluid and filter service. GM transmissions are often serviced too infrequently — we follow GM's own recommendations.

4WD & Transfer Case

Silverado and Colorado 4WD systems: front differential, transfer case fluid, actuator diagnosis. Auto 4WD issues are common.

Cooling System

Water pump, thermostat, radiator, coolant flush. Silverado 5.3L and 6.2L cooling systems need regular attention at higher mileage.

30+ Years in Pasadena
We've been working on cars in this neighborhood since 1993. The shop has changed, the tools have changed, but the location and the standards haven't.
OEM Factory Diagnostics
We use the same software systems the dealers use. Generic code readers miss a lot. OEM tools don't.
STAR Certified Smog
One of the relatively few STAR Certified stations in Pasadena. We can test any vehicle, including those directed to STAR stations by the DMV.

Across Google and Yelp. We take that seriously and work hard not to screw it up.
FAQ

Chevrolet Questions

My Silverado 5.3L is ticking. Is that the AFM lifters?

Probably. Gen IV 5.3L engines have a well-documented AFM lifter failure. If you're hearing a tick that started around 80-120k miles, we can diagnose with a GDS2 scan and mechanical inspection.

Do you do AFM delete on GM trucks?

We can discuss it. An AFM delete involves replacing the lifters and disabling the system via a tune. It's a significant repair but eliminates the recurring failure mode.

My Equinox has oil consumption. Is that normal?

Earlier 2.4L Equinox and Malibu engines had a known oil consumption issue. There was a class action settlement. We can check your VIN for any outstanding remedies.

Can you program a new Chevy key fob?

Yes. Standard key fobs, smart keys, and push-to-start proximity fobs. GM programming with factory-spec software.

Do you service Chevy fleet vehicles?

Yes. We're authorized for Element Fleet and Enterprise Fleet Management. Commercial and fleet accounts are welcome.
